Mk 3 Rear Axle

Does anybody know how much power & torque the standard axle can take?
Am considering putting a Ford 711m engine in place of 1500 unit or possably a Ford Zetec 1800 in standard form approx 150 bhp.
What is used in Turner cars used racing do?
