: Many years ago there was a article in Car and Cars Conversations
about putting a Ford Cortina (i think) diff center in an BMC back axle.
From Memory they machined down the diff centre so that it would fit
inside the Crown wheel and used Ford axles and machined the outer end
so that the BMC hubs could be slipped over and welded on.

I have tried the find the mag but i have then from the late sixties and
it was only a one page article. I sem to remember that they claimed
that it would take over 200hp in a clubman car.
: : Does anybody know how much power & torque the standard axle can take?

: Am considering putting a Ford 711m engine in place of 1500 unit or
possably a Ford Zetec 1800 in standard form approx 150 bhp.
: : What is used in Turner cars used racing do?

Quite
by chance I came across an atricle from a magazine (one page only and
no date or magazine name in evidence) and I thing that it is the one
that Robin Woolmer is talking about. The article is entitled 'How to
beef up your BL axle with the help of Mr Ford'. If anyone is interested
I can supply a photocopy or post it on the Turner website. Any takers?
