Richard Ibrahim bought this Turner in 1975 from Mark Hales. Mark had been racing it at Mallory Park and succeeded in comprehensively blowing up the shortstroke 1071(Cooper S based ) engine with a 5.3 diff in it. Richard subsequently, built a very cheap 1275-based BL engine for the Turner, rebuilt the suspension (no rebound travel at the back!),had a proper rollcage fitted, stuck on a fashionable airdam and spoiler and wide wheels. He started his first race in it, again at Mallory, in 1977 in a BRSCC Modsports race. Unfortunately, it failed to finish due to oiled plugs and at a following race at Silverstone was embarrassingly slow due to wrong gearing. However, at the next meeting at Mallory a couple of weeks later, with the car a bit more sorted, He managed to beat much more powerful cars and finished second overall. Thereafter, the car was very reliable and successful and was sold in 1979 and Richard has never seen the car since. It is unknown to the register today (Dec 2008) and the chassis number is also unknown. Richard moved on to racing a Gordon Howies Modsports MG Midget, a self-built Mallock-based Midget, then Imps,Formula Renualt and currently races Alfa Romeos.
