Tatty Turner is to be Auctioned by H&H Classic Auctions at the International Historic Motorsport exhibition 20-22 Feb 2004 at 21st February 2004 - Stoneleigh Park,
National Agricultural Centre, Nr. Warwick. England.
Description from the H&H catalog as follows.
This 1960-dated Turner-Climax is one of the best known club racing
cars of the early sixties. Known as 'Tatty', because of its spartan
appearance even then, the Wolverhampton-made sports-car was prepared
PICTURE
by Gordon Unsworth and Alan Smith of the Pit Counter in Derby and
driven to much success by Pat Ferguson during the 1960, 1961 and 1962
seasons, and by Warwick Banks in 1963. From 90 race starts, 27
outright wins or class wins and many placings were achieved at the
main UK circuits as well as at Zandvoort and Spa - as extensively
documented in contemporary race reports in Autosport, a comprehensive
archive being included. Particularly memorable was the June 1962
Mallory Park meeting where Tatty beat an all Lotus Elite field. With

Banks driving, the car still holds the lap record for its class round
the old Goodwood circuit. Subsequent owners of this most historic
Midlands racer were Alan Jones in 1964 and then, from 1965-1990, the
late Lionel Shakespeare, from whose estate it was acquired by the
vendor.
Although the car was race prepared many years ago, the Coventry Climax
engine has been started from time to time, though it will need to be
recommissioned before use. Master cylinders and brake calipers have
been refurbished. The 2-seater bodywork is said to be reasonably tidy,
albeit with some gelcoat cracks. Apart from aeroscreen and wraparound
screen, a hardtop is included. Having always been a race car and never
used on the road, Tatty was nonetheless road registered in 1963.
