I have not heard back from anybody so it looks like mine is an isolated
case. Will just try and avoid takeing the blody thing out again.
:
Ihav spent most of the morning trying to get the four bolts in that
hold the gearbox of my BMC powered Turner in Has anybody found an
easier way to do it.
: Once the engine mounting bolts are done up
loosly the mounts on the gearbox appear to be about 1/4 inch out of
line. My car has not been bent and this could be due to me having
fitted a later ribbed gearbox. I put a small jack between the tailshaft
tunnel and the back of the gearbox and jack it into line but it means
that when everthing is done up both sets of mounting rubbers appear to
be slightly out of alignment. Also it is bastard of job to get the four
bolt in through the mounting and into the gearbox casing. Has anybody
ever tried slotting the yoke so that the two 9/16 bolts just slot in
from the top having done the other four bolts up while it is out on the
floor. Would this weaken the yoke. I also noticed that the rear of the
gearbox (Tailshft) is 15mm off centre although nothing seem to be
bent.Any help with this job would be apprecited
